19th July - 25th July 2016

So this week was pretty sad in the end because we had to say goodbye to the Dever's which have been the senior couple here in Zadar for the 8 or so months I have been here!

Monday was pretty fun we had a nice relaxing pday we went to the sea organ and lights to show Elder Palmer as he hadn't seen them before and then we just kind of sat there and relaxed for a few hours, it was really nice just to be able to sit and relax for a bit. After that we went and got some ice cream (I tried redbull flavour which was actually not too bad.) After that we went back home, got changed and back to the grind stone! We found someone that night who listened which was cool but she didn't want to meet up again.

Tuesday we had district meeting which was pretty normal although after that we just had a normal day we were outside all day contacting people, it was really hot on Tuesday I think it was around 32ish to 34ish which made things pretty rough, we didn't end up finding anyone who would listen, so many tourists out that day, I made some nice pasta for lunch though that was fun.

Wednesday we had another day with nothing on really except english class at 6pm but I did get a call from Elder Dever and he needed some help with some things at church so I ended up helping him with a bunch of clerk things for a while, in the end though we actually had no english students as they didn't show up, I think because its summer and they would all rather be having a party at the beach rather then sit in a class learning english!

Thursday we pretty much had the same day as Wednesday except we had people turn up to english and after english we decided to take our dinner break and use it to get ourselves drawn up by some guy who was doing it in the center of Zadar it was fun he gave me a huge nose and ears though! haha quite funny, after that we went back and had some dinner.

Friday was kind of rough as the other elders and the Dever's were in split enjoying themselves while we had an all working day in the heat.. jealous much! :P It was good though we ended up finding someone who seemed at least kind of interested but didn't want to meet up, I guess it was better then nothing. Apart from that though the only thing we didn't was scan the big picture which was drawn of us. We also actually had dinner with the Dever's after they got back which was really nice, we were really tired and it was nice not having to cook, I really didn't feel like it and just before we were about to order some food from a local place the other elders called and said to come over for dinner as Sister Dever prepared something for us!

Saturday was fun, we had an exchange so I was back with Elder Bolan, we had pretty much and all contacting day except for church cleaning. We found someone to talk to, he knew the bible pretty well but believed in some pretty crazy stuff, I tried to give him a book of mormon at the end of it all but he said "no, you see this paper, it is worth a lot" so yeah then he wouldn't take it, I said we had like 500 of these at home and he said well help 500 other people.... interesting... After that we visited a member and shared a spiritual thought with them it was great. Well after that we went and cleaned the church which was fun as always!

Sunday was busy! We had 50 people in church as we had the mission president down and a lot of others because the it was the Dever's last time and we had to sustain the new branch president who is still currently in the MTC but will get here on the 10th of august or something like that. It was kind of sad I got to know the Dever's really well that they will be dearly missed out here. We had dinner with them that night and took some photos, just this morning we said goodbye to them, i guess for me it will be a while as I don't live in Utah... kind of sad.

Nothing too big on this week, happy birthday to dad and Liam though! :) I hit my year mark in a week though so that should be fun! have a good one.

12th July - 18th July 2016

Had a pretty busy week in the end! wow. So on Monday I spent my last day with my mission father Elder Pantelakis, we went around center and did random stuff, went to maccas which was nice, that night we also had dinner at an american Mormon families house as they have been living here for about 7 weeks doing family history stuff, they will be leaving next week, it was so weird to eat at a members house!

Tuesday morning, Elder Pantelakis and I left to go to Zagreb where I would stay for the next few days until I would pick up my new comp. So I had district meeting with Zagreb which was fun, after that there was a lot of running around, and in the end I found out I was traveling to Bosnia for a night to drop off a missionary there so I stayed in a city called banja luka. I had some good Gyros which i was so happy about, it is like my favourite food out here!

Wednesday morning I took another elder back to Zagreb, we left at about 9 and got into Zagreb at about 12ish, after that the Zagreb elders and I did a lot of running around things as there was a Zone conference for Serbia in the mission home, after that we worked the rest of the night which was fun (it was weird working in another area!)

Thursday morning we worked some more and then had some lovely Burek from a nice restaurant. Then at about 2 oclock I picked up my new companion who is from Canada and then we headed back to Zadar on the lovely 3 and a half hour bus, that was probably the longest its ever been, even though I have taken that bus like 30 times I usually sleep the whole way, not this time! That night we set up and got some food and that was about all there was time for.

Friday we had district meeting as we couldn't have it on our normal Tuesday. After that we had to do some visa stuff for Elder Palmer and then we got some lunch. After that we worked the rest of the day, it was actually only like 25 degrees, really quite cold compared to how it has been here in Zadar. After that I made some lovely gnocchi, I'm really enjoying making new random dishes!

Saturday it was just an all working day except we met with a member and taught a lesson to one of the kids who was just recently baptised, we are currently going through the Articles of Faith and he is enjoying that. After that we worked until dinner then cleaned the church which was fun.

Sunday we expected to have a huge turn out of tourists as the previous weeks had been 20 tourists coming but this week we only had about 12 which was nice, most of the spoke english too which was also very nice.  After that we did weekly planning and then went over to the Dever's, sister Dever cooked up a lovely meal as usual! They only have one more week! I'm going to miss them a lot. The rest of the night we worked.

And now to today! we will be going to center and showing the sea organ to Elder Palmer as he hasn't seen it yet, I might have a look at some of the little souvenir shops too, it should be a good day, this week seems pretty open but I'm sure it will be a lot of fun! Hope you all have a good week.

5th July - 11th July 2016

Well this week has been pretty normal apart from 1 call!

On Monday we went into the center with the Krehbiel's as they were here replacing the Dever's while they were in Switzerland for the temple trip, it was good fun, I had a lovely big Croatian slice of pizza which is cheap and kind of nasty but that's okay. After that we worked for the rest of the night unfortunately not being able to find anyone.

Tuesday we had district meeting in the morning as normal and then after that it was a super hot long contacting day.

Wednesday was hot as well, you may as well just assume that every day is like 35 degrees as we walk around, we couldn't find anyone cool and had a fun english class that night which was great as always, made some nice pasta for lunch too.

Thursday was pretty much a replica day.... apart from different lunches... :)

Friday we had an exchange for the whole day so I went back with Elder Bowles for a day which brought back some old memories, I also bought a Croatian bible as I have been needing one! After the long day of working we finished off with a nice cold drink from the supermarket.

Saturday was also pretty normal we just worked until 7 then we cleaned the church, the Deve'rs were not there so we had the Butlers help who are an american family who are in Croatia for about 8 weeks to do family history which is cool, they are a big help! That night we had to give the keys back to the Dever's as they safely arrived home from Switzerland, that night we also received a call from our mission president saying that my comp will be transferred to Tuzla in bosnia and I'll be staying.... as always in zadar! Dont get me wrong though I love it here!

Sunday was pretty hectic we had about 20 visitors at church and had 3 different languages being spoken.. English, German and Croatian. After that we did a little photo exchange and then worked until going to the Dever's for dinner, Sister Dever made us Sweet and sour chicken which was lovely!

It was really a pretty normal week though, its really starting to get hot here I hope it doesn't continue to get hotter! Hope you all have a great week.

28th June - 4th July 2016

Well this week was pretty quick we had a lot on, on Monday we went shopping! I actually bought something, a nice suit! It was about $110 which is great. We then went and had Mcdonalds for lunch which probably wasn't the best idea as I was pretty unwell. I don't know what happened I must of eaten something bad but yeah I have been sick but I haven't stopped working! I just kind of slept through lunches and dinners and I'm just recovering now.

Tuesday we had district meeting which was fun, it was Elder Bowles birthday so we had some lovely cake for lunch, the rest of the day was just contacting and we found one person who listened which was cool but I don't think it will come up with anything as he didn't want to meet up again. That night we went to a restaurant called dva ribara which in english means two fishermen and I got some pizza which wasn't worth it as that night I did not feel good.

Wednesday we left to Zagreb as we had a zone conference! It was great as we got to stay there a night, the meetings went for 6 hours and we did a lot of teaching then after that we played basketball which was fun!

Thursday we had more meetings in the morning and then at 1 we left back to Zadar on our 4 hour bus ride! It was fun, I got a lot of good sleep which was well needed. Once we got back we worked a little more then had some food.

Friday was pretty normal although very long! We had just a full contacting day so we just worked and worked, didn't find anyone cool unfortunately, so many tourists these days I need to know Chinese, German, French, Italian!

Saturday was pretty much the same, we had the Krehbia'ls (Senior couple in karlovac) come down to help out as the Dever's are gone to Switzerland on the temple trip so we helped them out with some things then on Saturday night we cleaned the church, nothing too special.

Sunday was pretty crazy we ended up having 22 people who weren't from Croatia with 8 members and a couple of investigators, most of them were from Germany so we had to do translation from Croatian to English to German, things are getting crazy! They were really cool though its fun being able to meet people from all around the world!

Thats pretty much everything in my week!
